The reason I started my business was to get out of debt.
I had student loans and then some credit card debit. Once I started my business I chose to go into more debt for that.
I’ve always had a tumultuous relationship with debt. But here are the four strategies I used to pay off my debt:
What if debt doesn’t impact you as much as you think it does? You think it is a weight you have to carry around. It is just a number. You can still have a fantastic life with debt.
You need to focus on the selling instead of the debt. Continue to make your minimum payments, but focus all of your energy on selling to make more money. You can create a surplus to do what you need to do with your money on the other side.
The reason we get into debt is because we didn’t save. Build up your savings account before paying off debt to avoid getting into more debt.
Once you’ve built up your surplus, you can pay off large amounts at a time.
This is the process I was able to follow to pay off over $100,000 in about a year and a half.
And paying off my debt wasn’t actually the biggest relief. My life did not change that much.
The best part for me was not being afraid of debt any more.
Once I paid off my debt and became a homeowner, I was able to get to a place where I’m building wealth. I am so excited to see where this journey takes me!
