As a follow up to Episode 7: Emancipation Through Entrepreneurship, I’m explaining why staying small is racist.
I see this so often, and I saw it happen to me too. Once people start to make some money they get comfortable. They want to stay where they are, instead of growing to the next level.
But I was journaling one day and I wrote “staying small is racist.”
Women of Color have been told to be grateful for what we have. I think that is White Supremacy telling us to stay small. Because when Women of Color stay small, White Supremacy gets to be big.
When your business stays small, your impact and influence stays small.
People tend to stay small because “they’re tired.” If you’re feeling tired, the problem is usually one of these things:
Another reason people tend to stay small is because they don’t want to keep learning new things. I understand this one because I’m right there with you! But the thought I choose to think is, “What if a new skill will make my life easier?”
Learning new skills is what gets us out of modern day oppression. New skills help you with emancipation. Don’t shy away from learning new things, double down on it.
So overcome whatever your objection is and grow your business! Staying small is racist.
We all can grow and scale and create true generational, financial, emotional wealth.
